This week we also welcome Megan Brewer to the Neumann lab. Megan is a visiting postdoc joining us for a couple of days from the ANZAC Institute to get some insights into the wonderful world of worms, and learn some essential laboratory techniques.
This week the Neumann Lab welcomes Caitlin Ng, who is joining us for a week of work experience. We hope to show Caitlin what a career in science is all about and give her a hands on experience to see what it involves on a day to day basis.
Brent was invited to present his research at the Tissue Architecture Meeting at the Peter Mac in Melbourne. His talk was titled: Understanding the mechanisms of axonal regeneration and axonal degeneration.
Brent has been awarded two NHMRC project grants, each spanning 2016- 2018. In a year in which we have seen the lowest success rate for project grants in the history of the NHMRC (at a miserable 13.7%), this funding is extremely precious and provides the perfect platform for the Neumann lab to grow and achieve our scientific goals.
More information about the 2015 funding outcomes from the NHMRC can be found here: https://www.nhmrc.gov.au/grants-funding/outcomes-funding-rounds We are currently seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Fellow to join our team. Applicants should have a PhD in cellular or molecular biology, genetics, or a related field, and previous experience with C. elegans is desirable, but not essential. If you would like more information, please contact Brent ([email protected]). See more information at Monash Jobs, and the position description below. Applications close December 8th, 2015.
